Municipal Services

Recreation Services

The Recreation & Facilities Department is responsible for the care and maintenance of all municipal recreational amenities including parks, playgrounds, beaches, sports fields, tennis courts, community centre/arena, outdoor rink, boat launches and docks as well as community facilities. From September to April, staff are responsible for arena operations at the East Ferris Community Centre and the coordination of ice rentals for several hockey leagues and non-competitive groups. The East Ferris Community Centre has a curling rink and is home to the Nosbonsing Curling Club which operates the rink and organizes curling leagues.

The department is also responsible for planning and developing recreational programs and community events. Department staff work in a community development role with local recreational service providers to facilitate the growth of community based services and programs for individuals of all ages. These services and programs include hockey, soccer, beach volleyball, curling, tennis, swimming lessons, youth summer camps, fitness classes, and pickleball.

The Director of Community Services oversees all activities of the Recreation and Facilities Department. The Director of Community Services reports to the Chief Administrative Officer.
