Provincial law requires that you have a working smoke alarm on every level of your house and outside all sleeping areas. Fines start at $235.00 for non-compliance.
Here is an OPP Detachment Infomation Brochure to clarify when to use 911 and other phone numbers for non-emergency calls to the police. There is also information regarding criminal record checks, victim services and fraud.
When calling 9-1-1 to report an emergency, please give your civic address, street name, and specify it's within the Municipality of East Ferris.
Fire Season is from April 1 through October 31. No daytime buring is permitted. Fire permits are required during fire season. Fire Permits are available at the East Ferris Municipal Office at 390 Highway 94. The office is open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday.
Civic addresses are the 911 signs at the end of your driveway. The signs are to be placed at a 90 degree angle from the travelled portion of the roadway so that the numbers are visible from both directions. It is the property owners responsibility to maintain the sign and post. The Fire Department will repair them if required for a fee.
